Washington Senators owner Clark Griffith (HOF, d.1955) locked down the services of Candini (d.1998) with this contract dated 12/6/44, for a salary of $7,000, a sum that would be lunch money for a modern-day player, for maybe a week or so. Griffith and Candini have signed this nicely preserved contract at the bottom of the second page, and both signatures show great strength, with Griffith's endorsement presenting as extremely bold.
