Description

Round the bases in triumph, when you acquire this pair of Mike Schmidt signed, game-used cleats. Playing his entire career with the Philadelphia Phillies, Hall of Fame slugger Schmidt proved himself the greatest third baseman in MLB history. Abundant signs of game use are evident, with traces of Veterans Stadium infield dirt clinging to the metal cleats, and what appears to be a wad of gum stuck to the sole of the right shoe.

Schmidt has triple-signed this pair of cleats, which saw game action during the 1980s. Both shoes are signed on the outward-facing side on the heels, and both signatures are distinct. The third signature resides on the tongue of the left shoe and is less distinct due to moderate fading and ink migration. Shmidt’s uniform number “20” is written on the outer Nike swoosh logo of each show, and though somewhat faded, the numbers remain readily discernible.

An accompanying notarized letter of provenance from longtime east coast memorabilia dealer and collector Ed Dolan, states he purchased these shoes directly from well-known Philadelphia sports reporter and talk show host Howard Eskin, who has had ample opportunity to acquire authentic game-used items during his fifty years behind the mic. These prominent Hall of Famer cleats are being offered publicly for the first time.
