Lou Gehrig is celebrated for a long ago "Iron Man" record, with this 1933 Acme Newspictures Type III photograph. Rating as VG+, this vintage 9" x 7" photograph captures the moment when Gehrig was recognized for playing in his 1,308th consecutive game played on 8/17/33, against the St. Louis Browns at Sportsman's Park. The New York Yankees legend broke Everett Scott's record on this day, and went on to finish with a streak of 2,130 consecutive games played. Gehrig is seen receiving a trophy from Sporting News Editor E.G. Brands, while AL President William Harridge, teammate Joe Sewell and other Yankees players look on. An Acme blurb affixed to the reverse side details the occasion and cites Sewell as having a streak of 1,103 game to his credit. Stamped on the reverse are the credits "Acme Newspictures, Inc.", and "Aug 22 1933 N.E.A.".
