Description

The New York Mets were just in their third year, and they were being celebrated as one of the worst, and one of the most lovable teams of all time. New Yorkers were coming out to “meet the Mets” and “greet the Mets.” This “official” ball is signed by original Met's announcer, Lindsey Nelson, and (26) members of that early team. The ball has some gray staining and possibly some shellac, but the signatures are all fairly strong and readable, averaging (“4 to 7).

Sweet Spot: Duke Snider (HOF).

North Panel: Ed Bauta, Choo Choo Coleman, Larry Bearnarth, Carl Willey, Tim Harkness, Dick Smith, Al Jackson, Steve Dillon.

Reverse Sweet Spot: Cookie Lavagetto (coach).

South Panel: Roger Craig, Casey Stengel (HOF), Jay Hook, Joe Christopher, unidentified, Ed Kranepool.

West Panel: Craig Anderson, Tracy Stallard, Norm Sherry, Lindsey Nelson (announcer), Paul Moran.

East Panel: Rod Kanehl, Pumpsie Green, Duke Carmel, Ted Schreiber, Jim Hickman, Joe Hicks.
