Description

The Dodgers move to Los Angeles from Brooklyn after the 1957 season, paid big dividends over the next decade, with 4 NL pennants, and 3 World Series championships. This was the Sandy Koufax-Don Drysdale era, when the Dodgers leaned heavily on their pitching staff for success. Koufax and Drysdale are joined by many of the 1963 World Series champs, in the signing of the offered 1963-1964 Los Angeles Dodgers team-signed baseball. This period signed ball in an ONL/Giles model, covered with a whopping total of (35) signatures. Evidence points to this ball having been signed at the Dodgers 1964 spring training, as there are a couple minor leaguers in the mix, with Barry Staab and Barry Erdos, along with veterans Marv Breeding and Dick Nen, who did not make the Dodgers 1964 roster. The signature of manager Walt Alston is a clubhouse example, more than compensated for by the inclusion of coach Leo Durocher, and more importantly, Milwaukee Braves legendary slugger Hank Aaron. The baseball is fairly clean and attractive, with decent integrity of the factory labeling stamps, and the (35) signatures range ("5" to "7") in quality.
