Salute the 1944 International League champions, with this rare Baltimore Orioles full-size pennant. WWII was raging, the Orioles home stadium burned down in mid-season, and the team suffered a late season swoon, in a year of great adversity for the Double-A minor league Orioles. To the delight of "Charm City" fans, the O's managed to finish in first place, and then beat the Louisville Colonels of the American Association in the Little World Series.
Labeled "Souvenir Baltimore MD.", this black on orange pennant is dated "1944" near the point. Player names are featured in block letters, next to a batter over a baseball diamond. Several future and former major leaguers are noted among the ranks, including Sherm Lollar, "Red" Embree, and Stan Benjamin. This vintage pennant retains a great degree of graphics integrity, a sharp point, and a clean surface. Despite typical pinholes on the black accent strip at the wide end, and overall light wrinkling, this well-kept team supporter reports as an appealing (EX+) example.
