Hall of Fame slugger Mel Ott strikes a familiar pose, in this circa 1950s news service photograph. This crisp 7" x 9" photo pictures Ott following through on the mighty swing, that saw him launch 511 home runs. Seen on the reverse, is a credit stamp for International News Photos of New York. Also noted on the reverse, in the handwritten date "9-24-37", suggesting the shot was originally taken on that date, with Ott in his prime, as the Giants were on their way to a meeting with the Yankees in 1937 World Series. Ott (d.1958) provided a lucky fan with a personalized ("7") strength signature on the front of this clean, glossy photograph, which shows a bit of light rippling at bottom-right, but is otherwise very appealing.
PSA/DNA Type II Authentic.
