Description

Hall of Famer Bill Terry responded briefly, but cordially, in the affirmative to an autograph request with this pairing of a 1955 period signed baseball and typed letter. The signature request came from famous collector George S. Hipp of Indianapolis. Appearing on Terry's Jacksonville, FL. Buick dealership letterhead, the vintage typed letter is dated 5/30/55. In the content, Terry acknowledges the receipt of Hipp's request letter, and states "I will be delighted to autograph a baseball for you". Terry has signed this letter with ("9") strength, and the page remains crisp, clean, and very attractive, despite several period compacting folds, none of which make contact with the prized signature. Accompanying, is the ball Terry signed for Hipp, which is a Hutch Official League model. This nicely preserved ball displays handsomely, with most of the factory labeling stamps still visible. Terry has signed and personalized this ball to Hipp, on the panel east of the reverse sweet spot labeling. Terry's signature shows a ("7.5") degree of potency, and he has included the inscription "Giants '22-'42". The signed panel is coated with a thin layer of protective shellac, while the rest of the ball's surface remains in its natural state.
