Description

Catch a considerably tough signature, with this Dolf Luque cut. A longtime pitcher with the Cincinnati Reds, Luque was on the winning side in the 1919 "Black Sox" World Series. He also picked up a second World Series ring in 1933, with the New York Giants. Baseball historians will appreciate the Cuban native's status as the first Latin American pitcher to play in the Majors. The offered cut measures 2-3/4" x 1/2", and is adhered to an index card. Applied as "Adolfo Lugue", this signature is somewhat faded, however it remains clearly recognizable. Upon his retirement from Major League Baseball, Lugue returned to Cuba, where he spent the rest of his days as a manager, and occasional pitcher, in the Cuban, Mexican, Florida International, and Southwest International leagues, remaining in uniform until a year before his death in 1957. PSA/DNA has encapsulated this cut, with an Authentic Auto designation.
