Description

Baltimore's "Bird" mascot had some exciting news to announce, when this Orioles inaugural season pennant was issued in 1954. The cheerful mascot is seen at left, wearing spectacles in front of a television camera, radio microphone, and news service typewriter dated 1954. The big news was the St. Browns relocation to Baltimore as the Orioles for the 1954 season. While this classic full-size, first season pennant rates as Gd due to erosion and a tear at the point end, the appliqué and "American League Baltimore Orioles" lettering retain an impressive degree of integrity. The tassels and accent stripe at the wide end of this exceedingly rare pennant remain securely attached, and display appeal is abundant.
