Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, Connie Mack, Lefty Grove, Dizzy Dean, Tinkers, Evers and Chance, all of them come alive in this newspaper clippings archive centering on the years 1938 and 1939. It's hard to value all the time and effort the baseball archivist put into these albums, which are meticulously laid out with photos, stories, caricatures, box scores and team stats. There are (6) albums, each one over 100 thick pages in a hardbound binding, and (2) other albums that are partially full. The albums show the wear of the years, and the pages have become hard but not brittle, and the newspaper clippings are all nicely intact. Thousands of entries from different newspapers and magazines were well thought out, a labor of love.
