Lot # 1389: Exceedingly Rare 1930s-1940s Cuban League Alacranes del Almendares Ceramic Baseball Statue

The old Cuban League gets a turn, with the spotlighting of this 1930s-1940s Alacranes del Almendares (Almendares Scorpions) ceramic baseball statue. Regarded as a high-level organization, the Cuban League (Liga Cubana) operated from 1878-1961. The Almendares team was a charter member and took the field throughout the CL's lengthy run, winning 24 League championships. Reaching a height of 4-1/2", this exceedingly rare statue has a 5-1/2" x 3-1/4" oval footprint. This captivating creation features a Scorpion mascot perched atop a heavily mudded baseball, alongside the team's stylish letter A logo. The underside is marked "Hand Painted". A short hairline crack on the front of the base appears to be a factory firing flaw, otherwise this ancient artifact reports in remarkable condition.
