Description
Lou Gehrig welcomed new friends, with this 1934 Goudey Knot Hole League letter. This antique promo called for boys to join the fun by submitting twenty Big League wrappers to the Goudey Gum Co., in return for a Knot Hole emblem and membership card. Gehrig is listed at top as president of the Knot Hole League of America, and a prominent facsimile example of his signature is located at bottom. Seen on the opposite side of the letter, are photographs of Goudey wrapper redemption items, including an image of an R309-1 Babe Ruth premium. The address at bottom of this advertisement side of the letter has mostly been removed, resulting in an unobtrusive surface abrasion. Otherwise, this letter remains crisp and attractive.
