Description

Babe Ruth joined in on some comic strip fun, as a star attraction in this 1929 Smitty at the Ball Game hardcover book. Created by Walter Berndt, Smitty began appearing in Chicago Tribune Syndicate newspapers in 1922. The offered book is a compilation of 1928 comic strips, published when Ruth was at the height of his game-changing career. Always ready to befriend kids, Ruth appears on the front cover, and ten of the strips found within. Also appearing in this antique publication are Grover Cleveland Alexander, Rogers Hornsby and Frankie Frisch, along with Smitty's friends, family and boss. Though fairly sturdy and attractive, this book rates as Gd+ due to rounded corners and a piece of tape added to the cover.
