Recall a golden era for the mighty New York Yankees, with the examination of this 1950-1957 yearbook complete consecutive run of the first (8) editions. While it's impossible to call any other period than the Babe Ruth/Lou Gehrig dynasty the highpoint for the Yankees franchise, the 1950s have their own special allure.
With Mickey Mantle and Yogi Berra anchoring the lineup, this glorious decade saw the Yankees win 8 AL pennants and 6 World Series championships. If we stretch back to 1949, we mark the start of a five-season stretch of total dominance, that saw the "Pinstripers" go 5-for-5 in Fall Classic play. During the 1950-1957 period represented by this selection of handsome yearbooks, the Yankees won 7 of 8 possible American League pennants, missing out only in 1954 to the 111-win Cleveland Indians. During this same stretch, they walked away proud winners of five World Series championships in 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953 and 1955.
This well-curated exhibit boasts pleasing examples throughout. The first (4) editions are billed as "Sketch Books", and the latter (4) are referred to as "Yearbooks". Featured editions are: 1950 first ever Yankees yearbook Vg-EX, 1951 Ex-Mt. 1952 Ex+, 1953 Vg, 1954 Ex, 1955 Gd due to 40% spine split, otherwise presents Vg-Ex details, 1956 Ex, 1957 Vg due to a small tear at top-left, otherwise present Ex+ details.
