Lot # 1474: Extremely Rare 1950s New York Yankees Three-Dimensional Pennant

A golden opportunity is set before you, with the presentation of this 1950s New York Yankees three-dimensional pennant. Regarded as extremely rare, this entertaining, high-end pennant is a special effects extravaganza. The entire composition of this visual delight sets it apart from typical pennant types of the day, as a tremendous collecting prize. At the wide end, stands a flashy Uncle Sam batting pose appliqué. Uncle Sam is styled in multi-color raised felt, with well-defined detailing. Perched on Sam's head is a die cut top hat overlay, which protrudes above the top edge of the pennant. An actual wood bat, which has been saw in half down the entire length, is realistically stationed in his hands, and a knowing look in his eyes tells you your patriotic Uncle knows exactly what to do with his war club. The gold and white New York Yankees lettering to Sam's right are also fashioned in raised felt. A white accent stripe and red tassels complete the design of this truly fantastic piece. The cost of producing such a pennant, likely put the sale price beyond the purchasing power of most period fans, supporting the notion that this a rare treasure indeed. One tassel has been reduced to a nub, and along with a slightly clipped point, multiple moth hole notches on the top edge, and a few other small sporadically located holes in the field are noted, limiting the grade for this vintage wonder to Gd+. Despite these conditions, this super tough pennant retains strong colors, and it radiates abundant display appeal.
