Lot # 1039: Fred Lieb 1974 "Most Thrilling Experience Typed Letter Signed - Covering 1929 World Series

Over several decades, Mr. Oliver Compton of Bridgewater, New Jersey sent letters to multiple Major League players asking them to relate their most thrilling experience in baseball. This is just one of the many offered in this auction. Meticulously collected, the letters average Excellent condition or better.

Fred Leib (announcer) signed typewritten letter on 5 ½ x 7 “Fred Leib -St. Petersburg, Fla.” stationery dated December 9, 1974. He writes, “most thrilling event in my 60 years plus of covering big league baseball was the 10-run 7th inning by the old Philadelphia Athletics at Connie Mack Stadium in 1929” and he goes on to describe the inning in detail, which included home runs by Al Simmons and Mule Haas, ending in a 10-8 A’s victory.
