Baseball's first commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis corresponded with then National League president Ford Frick, with this June 21, 1944 typed letter signed. Typed on "Baseball" letterhead, this brief letter is worded in Landis' typical no-nonsense style, to copy Frick on a letter sent to Phil Berger of the Orlando, Florida Chamber of Commerce, from Assistant Director McCarthy of the Office of Defense Transportation, in relation spring training activities. Obviously, this letter refers to precautions taken during WWII. Housed within a 22" x 17" frame, this well-preserved letter is flanked by Perez-Steele art postcards of Landis and Frick. The iron-handed Judge Landis has signed authoritatively, by means of a steel-tip fountain pen. This late-career correspondence was sent just five months prior to Landis' demise on November 25, 1944.
