Description

These two pages, each signed front and back, comprise pages 77 thru 80 of the World Champion 1940 Reds Yearbook that contained the photos and bios of the team. The (21) signatures are clean ballpoint averaging (“9-10”). The VG-EX pages are approximately 9x6 and have been roughly cut out of the yearbook, but they have no creasing.

Signatures include: Harry Craft, unidentified, Willard Hershberger (d.1940), Ival Goodman, Lee Gamble, Lonnie Fry, Eddie Joost, Ernie Lombardi (HOF), Frank McCormick, Whitey Moore, Lew Riggs, Milt Shoffner, Gene Thompson, Jim Turner, Johnny Vander Meer, Bill Baker, Joe Beggs, Hank Gowdy, Johnny Hutchings, Mike McCormick, Elmer Riddle.

It must be noted that it is extremely difficult to find 1940 Cincinnati Reds material featuring the signature of Hershberger, who passed away on August 3 that year/season (aged 30).
