Description

Time marches on and so too does legendary heavyweight champion Joe Louis, with the presentation of this 1937-1938 boxing figural clock. Standing approximately 13” tall, with base dimensions of 9" x 4", this majestic metal clock presents in very attractive state, with just minor wear. Finished in bronze, this stylish timekeeper has taken on a warm, lustrous patina. A life-like bust of the "Brown Bomber" is positioned above the clock face, which is surrounded by an olive branch wreath, with boxing gloves hanging down on either side. The base is decorated with ropes and turnbuckles in the fashion of a boxing ring, and just below the clock face is a banner proclaiming “Joe Louis World Champion”. Printed on the clock face is "United Self Starting", and the manufacturer's plate on the back states the maker as "United Clock Corp" of Brooklyn. While the cord and plug are securely attached at rear, this clock does not function when plugged in.
