Early heavyweight champions surface, with the presentation of these (3) 1890s boxing cabinet cards. These 19th century masters of the sweet science are the first ever gloved-boxing champion John L. Sullivan, and his successor James J. Corbett, who is the only man to have beaten Sullivan. Sized at 4-1/4" x 6-1/2", these antique cabinet photographs are hardy survivors in solid shape, with light to moderate wear.
Featured are:
John L. Sullivan in a suit, with "Yours Truly" and a facsimile signature printed on the bottom border;
James J. Corbett arms folded pose, with "Champion of the World" printed at bottom;
James J. Corbett Newsboy boxing pose, numbered "72" at bottom.
