Description

History-making heavyweight boxing champion John L. Sullivan cuts a dapper figure in this 1890s suit jacket cabinet card. Active professionally in the ring from 1879-1892, Sullivan holds the twin distinctions of being the last bare-knuckle heavyweight champion, and also the first gloved heavyweight champion. Sized at 4-1/4" x 6-3/8", this antique photograph is captioned "John L. Sullivan Champion of the World" at bottom. SGC has seen fit to rate this distinguished cabinet card 20 Fair 1.5.
