Description

Fire up your old movie projector, when you land this 1970s Bob Gibson estate film reel selection (3). A fierce competitor, Gibson rose to the occasion repeatedly in World Series play, going 7-2 in 9 starts, while racking up 92 strikeouts in 81 innings of Fall Classic action. The Hall of Fame hurler also recorded a no-hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates on 8/14/71, while visiting Three Rivers Stadium. Personally owned by Gibson, these 16MM films were shot during the 1968 World Series where he won Games 1 and 4, before bowing to Series MVP Mickey Lolich in Game 7; and during his 1971 no-hitter. Housed in its original can and mailing case postmark dated 4/22/73, the 1968 World Series reel has a diameter of 14”. The 1971 no-hitter was shot on two 7” diameter reels, both housed in their original cans. All (3) reels report in nicely preserved state and appear to be serviceable. Accompanying is a DVD disc titled “Bob Gibson St. Louis Cardinals No Hitter August 14, 1971”.
