The Star-Spangled Avenger KOs a ghoul to prevent him from burying his trusty sidekick Bucky Barnes alive, on the front cover of this 8/42 Timely Comics Captain America Comics #17 issue. Cap was in his prime when this early Golden Age gem was published, and he looks pretty buff on this Al Avison cover, as he delivers his life saving right cross to the head of a fanged and furry green demon. Bucky is tied and chained at bottom left, and the tombstone he's leaning on proclaims the fate the demon intended for him. Best in the grading business CGC has rated this precious WWII era comic 3.0, Cream to Off-White Pages. If it weren't for three binder holes along the spine, this attractive book would likely have graded FN, or maybe even better. This book was examined prior to grading submission, and the hole punches affect the border only, not the art panels. Label notes are "Jimmy Thompson and Don Rico art, Al Avison cover and art. Fighting Yank backup story.".
