Description

When Shea Stadium opened in 1964, it was considered state-of-the-art and it remains one of the most beautiful stadiums in baseball. The Pirates won the inaugural game by a score of 4-3, with the Pirates’ Willie Stargell hitting the first home run at Shea. He went 4 for 5 with the home run, two RBI's and two runs scored. Roberto Clemente also contributed with a 3 for 5 and two runs. The ticket stub from the game is in Excellent condition with Mr. Met lamenting a possible rain out.
