Description

Baseball historians rally 'round a winning flag, with the capture of this 1917 Chattanooga Braves championship pennant. This antique felt pennant is an oversized type, popular at the time of the issue, measuring 45" long, and 16" high at the left end. Centered by a baseball patch, the letter patches spell out "Braves Base Ball Champs Chatta. 1917". Three sets of tassels are attached at the left end, and the right end has a forked point. Though pocked with moth holes, this WWI era souvenir retains ample integrity, and abundant period authentic appeal. It seems the 1917 Chattanooga Braves is a squad lost to history. Regardless of their affiliation, this high-flying herald is an affirmation of this obscure team's pride and success.
