The Doctor will see you as soon as he's done trying to tear your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man apart in this July 1963 Marvel Amazing Spider-Man #3 issue. Spidey was just a teen, recently bitten by a radioactive spider, when he had to face the myopic menace Doctor Octopus for the very first time in this Silver Age classic. Super-Artist Steve Ditko blessed this early Spider-Man tale with an iconic cover, clearly indicating the bad doctor's psychotic intent. It's staggering to realize you could have bought this comic book off a newsstand for a mere 12 cents 62 years ago. Today, it's going to run you a good bit more.
CGC has assigned this comic a grade of .5, White Pages, due to a missing page that does not affect the story. Were it not for the absent page, the various signs of attrition would possibly have seen this book rated 2.0, or maybe even 2.5. The fact that this issue counts as the first appearance of Doc Ock makes it a fine prize regardless of condition. Label notes are "Page 12 missing. Stan Lee story, Steve Ditko cover and art. Origin and 1st appearance of Doctor Octopus (Otto Octavius). Human Torch appearance."
