Description

Doctor Doom makes a threatening house call, in this 10/63 Marvel Amazing Spider-Man #5 issue. Introduced in Fantastic Four #5, the Latverian monarch made his first appearance outside the FF title in this early Spider-Man comic. Armed with a super-genius intellect, impenetrable body armor, powerful dark magic, and the awesome ability to project energy blasts and deadly electric shocks, Doom is Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine and Dark Lord Sauron rolled into one, with nothing less than total world domination on his evil mind. If there were a Mt. Rushmore for Marvel super-villains, it would be a five-headed beast, with Doctor Doom centering the Red Skull, Green Goblin, Kingpin, and Magneto.

One of Spider-Man's earliest adventures, the offered comic qualifies as a genuine Silver Age classic, thanks to Steve Ditko's dynamic cover, and Stan Lee's layered story, integrating the operating spheres of Spidey, the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom, while also examining the trials and tribulation's of the title character's alter-ego, Peter Parker.

With Iron Man currently out of the picture, Marvel fans eagerly await the return of perfectly cast actor Robert Downey Jr. to the Marvel Universe, as the man behind the bad Doctor's metal mask in a couple of Avengers movies slated for 2026 and 2027. It's a good bet that original source material, such as this vintage Doom appearance comic, should experience a big boost in demand. CGC has seen fit to rate this vintage comic (3.0, Off-White to White Pages). Label notes are "Stan Lee story, Steve Ditko cover and art. 1st Doctor Doom appearance outside Fantastic Four. Fantastic Four cameo."
