When owners were embarrassed by the “Black Sox” World Series scandal, they turned to Federal Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis to serve as commissioner and resolve the issue. He expelled eight members of the Chicago White Sox for conspiring to lose the 1919 World Series. Whether you agreed with his decisions or not, he ruled over baseball with an iron hand for nearly a quarter century and is credited with restoring public confidence in the game. This letter, in Excellent condition, on the stationery of the Commissioner of Baseball, is typewritten and addressed to Mr. J.A. Zeller, General Manager, Detroit Baseball Club, Briggs Stadium, Detroit, MI. The long flowing signature grades ("8-9").
Accompanied by a Full LOA from James Spence/JSA.
