Bring the best third baseman of all-time into your collection, with the capture of this Mike Schmidt signed 1988 game-used batting practice bat. Most mere mortal ballplayers have a peak of 5-years or so. Schmidt's peak lasted 14 years, attesting to his remarkable consistency. Accomplished at the plate and in the field, the Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Famer slugged 548 home runs. He also won 10 Gold Glove awards, and was a 3X MVP, making him the top two-way performer at the "hot corner".
From the number of contact marks covering much of the barrel, Schmidt got a lot of mileage out of this Rawlings Adirondack model 154A bat during his penultimate season. Weighing in at an astonishing weight of 40.2 ounces, this 35.375" long ash club is truly a formidable weapon, that only a well-condition strong-man such as Schmidt, could have wielded it with purpose. Schmidt's contact with this bat was so forceful, that some of the contact marks on the barrel are heavy ink transfers of the factory lettering from the baseballs he so mightily struck.
Schmidt's uniform number "20" is written heavily on the knob, over the impressed model number, The knob and lower handle are wrapped with tape, and the upper handle is adorned with a ring in Phillies red, which is customary for the bat type. Also seen on the barrel among the numerous contact marks, are red bat rack streaks, and a 6" long blue fiber-tip marker Schmidt signature showing ("8") strength.
