Description

A proud souvenir from a career year is put forward, with this Joe Coleman single-signed OAL/Harridge stat baseball. In a 10-year MLB career, Coleman enjoyed his finest season in 1948, when he was selected to represent the Philadelphia Athletics as a member of the AL All-Star team. Coleman has signed boldly ("8.5") on the sweet spot, below the handwritten date "1948". Flanking Coleman's period signature, are recordings of his wins and losses against each of the seven opposing AL teams, along with his season mark of 14-13, his .519 winning percentage, and his 4.08 ERA. Though the factory labeling stamps have faded, a protective coating of shellac has kept this evenly-toned ball very attractive, while admirably preserving the extremely bold signature and written notations.

Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
