Description

Relive the Baltimore Orioles glory days with this 1983 World Series trophy. The Orioles trace their history back to 1894, when the franchise was founded as the Milwaukee Brewers. In 1902, the team was uprooted to St. Louis for a mostly dismal half-century run as the Browns. A serious change of fortune was in order so a second relocation took place in 1954, when the franchise re-branded as the current Baltimore Orioles. Throughout this long history, the period 1966-1983 stands out as the high point for the franchise, when the O’s won 6 American League pennants and 3 World Series championships.

Their latest taste of glory is commemorated by this team-issued trophy, which is consistent in style with known examples presented to coaching staff, and front office executives. At the time of issue, there were 26 MLB teams, and each is represented by one of the 26 brass pennants ringing this magnificent trophy, which reaches 12” at its highest point. The round base has a 7” diameter and sports a brass band bearing the legend “World Champions Baltimore Orioles 1983.” Roosting atop the base is a regal gilt crown perched on a gleaming brass hoop, with a pewter baseball anchoring the hoop. The finishing touches are a pair of 1983 World Series press pins, with one each for the Orioles, and their opponents, the Philadelphia Phillies. Wear is light, and the overall presentation is fantastic.
