Description

While manning second base for the New York Yankees during the 1964 season, Bobby Richardson put the ball in play with great frequency, racking up 181 hits in a league-leading 679 at-bats. Some of those knocks came off the offered 1964 game-used bat. From Richardson’s estate, this authentic gamer is a Louisville Slugger signature model, showing outstanding use. A handle crack has been neatly repaired, and a faded number “1” for Richardson’s uniform number is written on the knob, next to the stamped in model number K55. Numerous contact marks are seen on the barrel, along with small bat rack streaks, and a few cleat impressions. The accompanying LOA assigns a game use grade of GU 9. Richardson has signed “7” on the barrel, between the center factory brand, and the burned in facsimile of his signature. A piece of tape affixed to the back of the barrel bears the written notation “Bob Richardson New York Yankees”, along with the date “7/31/64.” Facing the Minnesota Twins that day, Richardson went 2/5 with a double and a run scored.

Full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA for game use. Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA for the signature.
