Surprisingly, Sandy Koufax made just a single opening day start, during his 12-year career with the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers. With that in mind, we’re not going very far out on a limb, in calling this 1964 Los Angeles Dodgers opening day ticket stub a great find. This game took place at Dodgers Stadium on 4/14/64, with the Dodgers facing the St. Louis Cardinals. Koufax started the first, last and only season opener of his career that day, and went the full nine innings, striking out five, and walking none, while scattering six hits, to earn a 4-0 complete game, shutout win. On offense, big Frank Howard went 2/4, with a 2-run homer. PSA has encapsulated this prize stub, with a grade of (FR 1.5), making it “1 of 1” at this level, with just 1 rated higher.
