Description

Original watercolor-on-board painting of Roberto Clemente created by Dick Perez in 1981 for the Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcard set. Signed by the artist in the lower center. This is the preeminent Roberto Clemente artwork in the collecting world, universally recognized as a modern classic, and one of legendary Hall of Fame artist Dick Perez's most recognizable works. Given its significance, it is not surprising to learn that this is also the last original Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcard artwork to be released by the artist. Clemente has always had a special meaning for Dick Perez, both because of their shared Puerto Rican heritage, and as a personal hero on and off the field. This artwork was notably a favorite of Dick Perez and could be found hanging on his living room wall prior to its sale at auction years ago. The offered artwork will always remain Perez's most definitive artistic expression of Clemente and one that will be remembered for generations to come. This is a particularly special and famous painting that is deserving of display and special prominence in a world-class collection. Artwork: 14 x 17 inches. Matted and framed to total dimensions of 20 x 23 inches. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
