Reigning MLB champions the St. Louis Cardinals were visiting the Detroit Tigers for this game, which was contested at Tiger Stadium on October 7th. Though Denny McLain racked up an astonishing 31 wins during the regular season, it was Lolich who played hero for the Tigers in the postseason. Lolich went the distance in Games 2, 5, and 7, to earn the 1968 World Series MVP Award on the strength of three complete game victories. The Tigers lefty survived a two-run homer by Orlando Cepeda in the first inning, to record a 5-3 win for Detroit in Game 5. PSA has encapsulated this big game souvenir with a grade of VG 3.
