Description

The 1996 Atlanta Olympics were heralded in precious metal format, with the issue of this 1995 Atlanta Centennial Games $5 gold proof coin. Described as a deep cameo proof coin, this glittering commemorative depicts the Olympic Torch and a stadium on the obverse, while the reverse is adorned with a fierce Eagle. Struck in a relatively small quantity of 43,124 pieces at the West Point Mint, this pristine coin has a weight of 8.359 grams, and a 90% gold, 10% silver-copper alloy composition. The actual gold content is 0.24 troy ounce. Accompanying are the original U.S. Mint presentation case, box and COA.
