Description

An early celebration of the 1996 Summer Olympics was provided, with the issue of this 1995 U.S. Mint Atlanta Centennial Olympic Games gold and silver proof coin set (4). This glorious quartet of radiant coins is populated with a $5 gold piece depicting the Olympic Torch/Stadium, a $1 silver coin fronted by two track and field sprinters coming to the finish line, a $1 silver coin fronted by a group of cyclists, and a clad half dollar coin with a baseball scene. The gold coin weighs in at 8.36 grams, with a 90% gold, 10% copper composition, and an actual gold content of 0.24 troy ounce. The two silver coins each weigh 26.73 grams, with a 90% silver, 10% copper composition, and an actual silver content of 0.77 troy ounce. The clad half dollar weighs 11.34 grams and has a composition of 25% nickel over a 75% copper center. Accompanying are the original Mint presentation case and box (no COA).
