Lot # 1450: 1947-1953 Pete Castiglione Pittsburgh Pirates Forbes Field Locker Room Nameplate

A Forbes Field relic is unearthed, with the offering of this Pete Castiglione Pittsburgh Pirates locker room nameplate. Signed out of high school by Pittsburgh in 1940, Castiglione returned from WWII to play seven seasons for the Pirates, as a reliable utility infielder from 1947-1953. Measuring 30” long by 2-3/4” high, this vintage plate is blocked lettered “CASTIGLIONE” in white on a painted black metal field. Mounting holes are punched at top center and both ends, and a 1952 Bowman Castiglione baseball card is adhered to the right of the lettering. Wear is age-appropriate, with a great look of period authenticity.
