Description

A handsome souvenir from a Mid-Summer Classic of long ago is served up, with the presentation of this 1965 MLB All-Star Game commemorative plate. This meeting of baseball's best was staged at Metropolitan Stadium in Bloomington, Minnesota, on July 13, 1965. On this day, NL Cy Young Award winner Sandy Koufax was credited with the win, Juan Marichal was named the game's MVP, and home runs were struck by Willie Mays, Joe Torre, Willie Stargell, Dick McAuliffe and hometown hero Harmon Killebrew.

Crafted by Red Wing Potteries of Red Wing, MN., this like-new 10-1/2" x 11" ceramic dish is styled as a home plate, with the legend "1965 All Star Game, Metropolitan Stadium, Bloomington, Minn." in raised lettering. Below the legend is the slogan "Make Your Home Plate Minnesota", followed by a relief emblem comprised with a glove, bat, baseball and home plate. Accompanying is a Welcome to Minnesota home plate-shaped sheet, detailing festivities leading up the big game.
