Description

Over several decades, Mr. Oliver Compton of Bridgewater, New Jersey sent letters to multiple Major League players asking them to relate their most thrilling experience in baseball. This is just one of the many offered in this auction. Meticulously collected, the letters average Excellent condition or better.

 

Joe Sewell signed letter on 8 ½ x 11 “Dairy Fresh Corporation – Tuscaloosa, Alabama” stationery dated July 7, 1980. He writes, “the first is to know I had the ability to play in the Major Leagues for 16 years with such great players as Cobb, Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker, Walter Johnson, Lou Gehrig (I roomed with Lou five years), Lefty Gomez, Grover Alexander and many others. My second thrill was when I was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.”
