A seriously tough souvenir surfaces, with the offering of this 1914 Pittsburgh Pirates/Rebels dual-sided National League/Federal League pocket schedule. While the National League was well-established at the time, the Federal League was a three-year wonder, that competed at the minor league level in 1913, and the at the major league level in 1914 and 1915. Under the guidance of player-manager "Rebel" Oakes, the Rebels fielded plenty of experienced major leaguers, including Hugh Bradley, Ed Lennox, Frank Delahanty, Elmer Knetzer, Howie Camnitz, and "Mysterious" Walker. Sponsored by White's Barber Shop of Indiana, PA., this metal-rimmed schedule measures 2-1/2" x 3-1/2". The National League side is bright and clean with distinct text. Though the Federal League side is afflicted with some surface paper loss and staining, any example of this schedule type should be acceptable, given its extreme rarity.
