Description

Head back to the New York Mets inaugural season, with this 1962 home opener full ticket. It was a brutal beginning for the expansion Mets, who finished their first campaign with a dismal record of 40-120. There were some decent players in the lineup, but just two standouts in Rich Ashburn and Frank Thomas. Arguably the biggest factor in the '62 Mets futility was the pitching staff, which compiled a 5.04 team ERA. After a single game in St. Louis on April 11th, the Mets held their home opener on April 13th at the Polo Grounds. Facing the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Mets dropped a close one, by a score of 4-3. A solid survivor of this long-ago first Mets home game, the offered full ticket is stamped twice with "Home Opener". PSA has encapsulated this historic gameday souvenir with a respectable grade of VG 3.
