In his detailed Letter of Authenticity, Phil Wood concludes John Scott was no Hall of Famer, but he was an original Toronto Blue Jay in 1977. This jersey checks all of the boxes for authenticity and has added collectability as an inaugural season jersey. The Toronto Blue Jays came into being in 1977 in the NL because the Seattle Mariners were added in the AL. Like most expansion teams, the original Blue Jays were largely composed of veterans and prospects other teams didn't want. The result was a last place finish at 54-107. John Scott, who wore this jersey in 1977, had some previous call ups with San Diego but he never played again after this season when he batted .240 with 2 HRs and 15 RBI's. This jersey, size 42 by Wilson Sporting Goods, has all the appropriate tagging including “11 77 1,” designating number, year of issue and set number. The jersey is 100% polyester and in Very Good to Excellent condition.
