Lot # 766: 1949 Clark Griffith Signed Government Postcard - PSA/DNA Authentic

A great baseball man is remembered with this Clark Griffith signed government postcard. As an MLB pitcher, Griffith (HOF, d.1955) racked up a career record of 237-146, affording him solid star player status. His record of 1,491-1,367-59 as a manager is also very impressive. Perhaps his most important contribution to the great game of baseball, was his pioneering influence to cement the legitimacy of the American League in the early 1900s, with money well-spent on luring established National League stars to jump ship to the fledgling league. Plunk down some well-spent money to obtain this considerably bold Griffith signature. Applied to a GPC postmark-dated August 16, 1949, this large and in charge signature stands out in strong contrast against the clean card's light-cream surface.
