Description

Groundbreaking first baseman, Fred Tenney, credited with originating the 3-6-3 double play, has signed this 3 ¼ x 5 ½ “correspondence card” in black steel-tip fountain pen (“9-10”). The signature includes two inscriptions, “Brown ‘94” and “Boston Nationals & N.Y. Giants 1894-1911.” The card is postmarked April 7th, 1949, Boston, MA, and addressed to Skippy Campbell, West Newton, MA.

The message reads, “Dear Skippy, Your “Gramps” was a close mate. I remember him very well. Please give him my regards and tell him I hope to see him in June on our 55th anniversary. Cordially, Fred Tenney.”
