From early in Jackie Robinson's MLB career, comes this pair of attractive period magazines, with:
September 1947 Ebony magazine VG-EX, Robinson was nearing the end of his rookie season with the Brooklyn Dodgers when he was featured on the cover of this issue with his wife Rachel, and their son Jackie Jr. A fairly scarce survivor, this magazine contains a two-page interior spread, which includes five Robinson photographs, and an article relating Robinson's devotion to his family, his hopes for his son's future, and his desire to combat juvenile delinquency by opening a boy's club when he retired from baseball.
June 1950 Select Publications Sport Life Volume 3, #4 issue with Robinson batting pose in Dodgers uniform front cover photograph is CGC graded 5.0, Off-White to White Pages. The caption next to Robinson reads "are the Rough Days over for Jackie Robinson?", likely a reference to oppression and harassment Robinson endured during his early seasons in the Majors. Also pictured on the front of this nicely preserved magazine are contemporary ballplayers Ralph Kiner and Mike Garcia. To date, CGC has graded just ten examples of this prized issue.
