Description

The New York Giants won the 1954 World Series over the Cleveland Indians, four games to one, so Willie Mays' famous catch probably didn't save the World Series, but it was the most amazing play seen by a national television audience up to that time, since it happened during game one of the World Series. The image of Mays racing to the centerfield wall in the Polo Grounds, catching the ball over his shoulder, then turning and throwing is indelibly archived in the minds of sports fans. This official program from that game is in Very Good condition and it is very neatly scored. Vic Wertz, the pinch-hitter who hit the ball 450 feet in the 8th inning, has a big “X” and “F8” written in the 8th inning box.
