Description

Presented is a 1957-1959 Mickey Mantle's "Big League Baseball" board game produced by Gardner & Co. of Chicago, Illinois. This near complete package measures 15x8 and includes a pair of 11-1/8 x 4-1/2" black-and-white play cards picturing Mantle batting from the left side of the plate (moderate creasing throughout) and a 4x6 "Mickey Mantle's Baseball Record" info card (VG-EX). The Mantle adorned cardboard playing field measures nearly 7-1/2 x 14" and includes a functioning spinner, the original dice (in plastic tubing) and 9 tri-color pegs. Despite mild abrasions, the playing surface has survived the decades in excellent condition. While the upper lid displays moderate creasing, storage wear and a split on the lower right boundary, the overall construction is not seriously compromised. Additionally, the intact lower container is quite clean with only incidental creasing. An interesting Mantle collectible from his home run heyday!
