Lot # 972: 1959 Rogers Hornsby Signed Postal Envelope

This large 6-cent airmail envelope has a 2 ½ x 3 ½ photo of Rogers Hornsby pasted on the front, as well as the caption,                            

“Rogers Hornsby. He was originally signed for $400; by 1926, he owned 15 percent of the Cardinals and was arguably the greatest hitter ever.”

The 4 ¼ x 8 envelope’s condition is VG-EX, and the Hall of Famer has signed (“8-9”) under the airmail stamp “Rogers Hornsby 1959.”
